Into Pound Lane
(Photo 1997)

On the corner of Pound Lane is the Kent Music School, housed in what was the old Police Station. Much of the interior rooms are unchanged, so people learn to play instruments in police cells. There is a bridge from this building into the West Gate, because some prisoners were kept on the gateway. On the right here is Barretts garage forecourt, and this has changed since 1997 when I first took a photo here.

On the left, after the garage, is Nos 1a-4 Pound Lane. The Canterbury Archaeological Trust excavated the site when the houses were developed in 1986.
