City Walls

As we begin to walk around the walls we pass Dane John Gardens on the right. The line of lime trees enclose a cool leafy walkway across the middle of this little park. The obelisk is a War Memorial for the Boer War - 'to the officers, non commissioned officers and men of the Buffs - East Kent Regiment and of the Imperial Yeomanry of East Kent who gave their lives in the country's cause during the war in South Africa 1899-1902'.
