This small square stands in front of the main entrance to the Cathedral: Christchurch Gate. Next to the gate is the old 'Sun Inn', the ground floor is now a 'Starbucks', and the upper floors 'The Cathedral Gate Hotel'. The Cathedral Gate hotel originally sold its ground floor to 'Pizzaland', which is why the Archaeological Trust report talks about that business.
In the centre of the square is the main Canterbury War memorial and behind that you can just see the tables and chairs placed in the square by the Olive Branch pub which is tucked out of sight on your right.
Turning right here takes you into Burgate and away from the Cathedral heading south. Turning left will take you to Sun Street.
