St. Mary Magdelen's tower

This tower is all that remains of the local parish church that stood on this site. The Church was demolished in 1870 and the site became the Catholic Church of St. Thomas of Canterbury which is accessed just on the left of the picture.

In the distance is a new development, that replaced all the buildings in the city block. It stood empty for a long time, and now houses Dixons, which moved here from the main street.
