The Roman Museum
(Photo 1996)

The Roman Museum containing a wonderful mosaic pavement that was found after the war. The new museum was built as part of the development here in 1991, it replaced a slightly more basic display of what had been found. The pavement is now behind shiny (not matt) glass and this makes it harder to see.

The columns here are not roman, they are just the idea of the architect. The Roman Pavement is about 6 feet (two metres) below the current street level.

The Museum is worth a visit. Beware that the museum is closed on Sundays from November to June.
