Butchery Lane Turning
(Photo 1996)

Turn right here for Butchery Lane and the Roman Museum containing a wonderful mosaic pavement that was found after the war. The new museum was built as part of the development here in 1991, it replaced a slightly more basic display of what had been found. The pavement is now behind shiny (not matt) glass and this makes it harder to see.

In Butchery Lane, there's also a great pastry shop, and a couple of pubs.
