Manston is an easy place to learn flying, it has a very long runway, Runway 10/28, which is 2752 metres long and 61 metres wide.. If you look on the NASA satellite photo of South-East England, then it's an obvious feature. The main runway is long enough for Jumbos and Virgin Atlantic frequently arrive with a 747 to practice. The picture below shows me flying into land on Runway 28.

Baseleg for 28 at Manston

A little after the photo above was taken, I turned left and headed for the runway. Here I am, somewhat higher than I should be, and also not exactly on the centre line either. No matter, I corrected and landed OK. The apparent bar across the middle of the runway is the shadow of a cloud. The building on the right is TG Aviation's club house.

Manston 28 Finals
There used to be loads of stuff here about the 'other' runway at Manston, but since the RAF moved out, and private business moved in, that has sadly gone. I suppose that I should be happy that you can still fly from the place, there seems to be a gradual erosion of places to fly into in South-East England.
